Wednesday, March 29,2006 Orono Weekly Times - 3 Places I've done time Spring Fever? A few weeks ago, an advertisement showed up in the Orono Weekly Times about a man looking for female companionship. More than one. person thought it might have been me. Thanks for all the calls and questions on the street, but no--it wasn't me this time. The last time I mentioned wanting a girl friend in the paper, I had a call, but when they found out I wanted someone to. help plant trees at the Orono Crown Lands property, property, they promptly hung up on me. . They weren't interested in working. I guess my daughter Jessica would like me to buy a house and move out of our apartment but truthfully--I hate moving furniture. I tell her my plan is to wait until a .middle aged woman or younger comes along. Someone Someone that has had a husband that worked hard all his life, saved his money, bought a house and then croaked from all the worry about his money and holdings. I tell Jessy when this happens, happens, she can just grab her pictures and we'll lock the door and leave everything for our landlord. Pretty kind of me eh! Years ago I put an advert in the paper looking for a mate. It read something like this: "Young-looking 28 year- old that has ah occasional drink and cigarette, looking for. a fun-loving friend." Actually, I was 38 and drank a couple of bottles a week and smoked two packs a day. I went to the hotel often and had a tan to match the indoors. I only got one reply and at the time it seemed to be the perfect match. The resume read like mine. Not far into the relationship, relationship, I realized we both lied. We ended the made-for-each- other romance when I realized realized I couldn't afford. it. The bottom line was, she could tell me where to go but she couldn't tell me what to do. Who knows, maybe I will put an ad in soon and see what happens and hope. New Dutch Oven Weekend Brunch Buffet Sat/Sun & Holidays • 8 a.m.-3 p.m. ALL YOU CAN EAT! your selection of...
