This is a collaborative, collaborative, community screening for babies and children to five years on Wednesday, June 14th, 2006 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the YMCA Ontario Early Years Centre, 20 King Street, Newcastle. This is a free drop in time for parents to bring their children and ask questions about their learning, development and behaviour. "Years Before Five" resource kits and Nipissing District Development Screens will be available to parents to help them learn about and monitor monitor their child's development. This is a joint project between community agencies and the YMCA Ontario Early Years Centre. Professionals from the following following agencies will be present: Infant Development Services, Resources for Exceptional Children, Grandview Children's Centre, Durham Region Children's Services Division, Durham Preschool Speech and Language Program, Durham Behaviour Management Services and the Family and Community Action Program, The Durham Region Health Department and the Durham District School Board. DRPS Police Chief Vern White made the announcement announcement at Regional Council this morning. Gary Polonski from Durham College and U.O.I.T., members of Special Olympics Ontario and many other community leaders including members of the R.C.M.P. were on hand for the announcement. The Ontario Spring Games will begin May 29th and. run until June 1st, 2008 and will include approximately approximately 700 athletes, 170 1 coaches and over 600 volunteers volunteers from across Ontario. The athletes will be competing competing in a wide range of events including swimming, bowling, bowling, power lifting, and basketball basketball competitions.
