Wednesday, July 19,2006 Orono Weekly Times - 5 The Reel Thing Movie Reviews by Shawn McCartney The first time I ever saw Johnny Depp was in the T.V. series, 21 Jump Street. He was young but you could tell he was going to go far. Depp has always played unusual parts in movies such as Edward Scissor Hands, Sleepy Hollow and What is Eating Gilbert Grape, to name just a very few. It is so neat to see him recognized, in this the second Pirate movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. T enjoyed the atmosphere atmosphere of this movie. It is geared to a wide audience, and is quite childish in some ways--but I loved that in the acting. It reminded me of a swashbuckling movie of the early film years--even the silent' films. Johnny Depp is very good, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are very good also. It is a fun summer movie a little scary for young kids but still a good see. I give this movie a 4 out of 5. I also went to see Click. I must say I am not an Adam Sandler fan. I was really-- what? Yes ... disgusted! The movie could have been so good. The story was good even the acting was okay but the humour. I understand bathroom humour, not the smartest but yes funny. Here, it was over done and the same joke replayed. At least they could have come up with a. new joke. I give this movie a 1 out of 5. Here are some movies to watch while dealing with the heat: Note Book, Under Seige, Legends of the Fall, Count of Monte Cristo, Don Juan, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Under the Tuscan Sun, Sweet Home Alabama, What About Bob, Phone Booth, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and King Kong.
