He enlisted his pals Gus Qualtrough (L), Connor Megan (R), and little sister Alyson Megan (front) to hold a charity Kool-Aid sale on Saturday July 15, at a stand in front of their home on Main Street, Orono. They raised $70 which thèy deposited into a special account for Gibson in an Oshawa bank. Mayor's court case adjourned again Clarington Mayor John Mutton Clarington Clarington Mayor John Mutton's Mutton's court case was remanded to August 22nd, 2006. Mayor Mutton is facing two counts of assault, resulting from an incident which occurred on June the 10th. He was granted bail on June 25th, after he was arrested and held for the night. At that time a court date of July 11 was set. On the . 11th an agent for the Mayor's lawyer requested that the trial be remanded until August 8. On the 8 the agent appeared in Oshawa court again and asked that the trial be adjourned until August August 22. The adjournment was granted by the judge. The Mayor did not appear in court on either of the two court dates. Truck driver assaulted on Newtonville ramp - Whitby OPP are investigating investigating an attempted hijacking of a commercial motor vehicle and assault on the male driver last week. The driver was parked on the Newtonville Road ramp to Highway 401 westbound, at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday August 1, 2006, when the assault occured. Investigations revealed, a 47-year-old male from Quebec was lured from his tmck and assaulted by two male suspects; a struggle ensued, for reasons yet to be determined, and the suspects mmw&mimmwi&imMmsimi fled the scene empty-handed. • The suspects are described as; male East Indian/Arabic approximately 30-years old, 5' 3" thin build; wearing a dirty pink or reddish turban, a sleeveless shirt with red on the frontj dark pants; he spoke with a thick, accent. The second second suspect was described as male, East Indian/Arabic, approximately 30 years old, 5' 4" or 5' 5", wearing dark sleeveless clothing. Persons witnessing any suspicious activities on the Newtonville Road ramps on the morning of Tuesday August 01st,-2006 are asked to contact the Whitby O.P.P. Detachment at 905-668-3388. On June 23, 2006, a truck driver's body was found in his tractor trailer behind the Pickering Wal Mart store. Police believe the driver was shot when the load of chicken he was hauling was stolen. Greenbelt boundaries final Province says no to Region The Greenbelt Act is law and the boundaries of the Greenbelt Plan are "final," stated the Honourable John Gerretsen, Ontario's Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The statement was taken from, a letter Gerretsen sent to Regional Chairman Roger Anderson, in response to Regional Council's request to remove certain lands from the Greenbelt Plan, At their May 10th council meeting, Regional councillors voted 16 to 8 in favour of asking asking the province to remove about 1,400 hectares from the Greenbelt Plan. That request included a parcel of laud in Pickering, one in Ajax and two in north Courtice. Part of council's initiative was also to add lands into the Greenbelt in Courtice, south of Highway 2, which are not currently in the Greenbelt. Ontario's Greenbelt Plan which received legislative approval on February 24, 2005, was designed to provide provide permanent protection for approximately 1.8 million acres of environmentally sensitive sensitive and agricultural land around the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
