It includes those who would otherwise not participate in exercise programming due to potential barriers of cost, transportation or limited ability. There are two streams in the SMART Program, which is being promoted locally by VON Durham Region; the in- home exercise program, and the group program. The in-home program is a 15 week session of exercises geared towards the individuals individuals needs, whether it is recovery recovery from joint replacement, stroke, or other mobility issues. A volunteer instructor will come into the senior's home, and engage them in an excercise program geared to their needs and ability.
