4 - Orono Weekly Times Wednesday, August 30, 2006 The movie Invincible is a good film. I'm not a lover of feel-good movies. But this one is above average. It's by the same people who brought you The Rookie and Remem- - her the Titans. Mark Wahlberg plays Vince Papale, the real- life football fan who against all odds tried out and earned a spot on an NFL team. It is based on a true story and at the end of the film, they show clips of the real Vince Papale leading the Eagles to a win in 1981. This movie has all the right stuff. It's nice to see the underdog win sometimes. Invincible also stars Elizabeth Banks, Franklin Ojeda Smith, Greg Kinnear and Michael Rispoli. When the film is over, something I always do is sit and watch the credits--where it was filmed, who sang the songs, that sort of stuff. When this film was over, I noticed two older ladies who reminded me of my grandma that were sitting behind me. They were each just over 4- 1/2 feet tall and weighed all of 95 lbs. They were talking through the credits about the movie. They were so excited and said how they loved to watch hockey and baseball movies and how good this particular film made them feel. That to me is a good review. I give this film a 3.5 out of 5. Occasionally, I go to see films strictly to review. Accepted was one such movie. It's a high school movie that lives up to its billing. It is original with a few funny spots, lots of girls in swim suits, totally against the system. system. Isn't this what youth is all about? I wasn't crazy about the idea of an 18 year-old starting a school and those in government letting him do it! But all in all, .it is a fun summer summer film. It starred Adam Herchman, Blake Lively, Jonah Hil and Justin Long. I give this film a 3 out of 5. If you are looking for more feel-good movies involving sports, you'll have to see: The Natural, The Rocket, The Rookie, Remember the Titans, Radio, Cinderella Man, The Worlds Fastest Indian--all based on true stories. Must-see (non-sport) dramas: dramas: The Last Samurai, Troy, Saving Private Ryan, Sleepers, Sleepers, The Day After Tomorrow, Legends of the Fall, Forrest Gump, or Last Castle. Through the Joint Waste Management Group, the two municipalities are addressing the social, environmental and financial Impacts of this issue by way of an Environmental Assessment (EA) under the Provincial EA Act. On June 21 and 22, 2006 Durham and York Regional Councils approved, the recommendation that the "Thermal Treatment of Waste" is the preferred system for managing residual garbage over the long-term in Durham and York. This decision followed extensive public consultation on the evaluation process. Now that the preferred system has been identified, the next step in the EA process is to identify a site(s) to locate the facility or facilities somewhere in Durham and/or York Renton: - On September 12,13 and 14, Public Information Sessions will be held in Durham and York Regions to discuss the process of identifying the preferred long-term site(s) to establish a Thermal Treatment facility or facilities The preliminary evaluation process and criteria that were included in the Approved EA Terms of Reference will be presented and there will be opportunity to comment.
