In the results for the 2005/2006 school year, which were published by the Province last week, Orono had earned their best scores ever since the Province began publishing publishing results in 2003. "These results are exciting and rewarding," school princi- • pal Mrs. Pat Moffat told the Orono Times reporter on Tuesday morning. "Our students students are being sucessful and our practices are solid," she stated. The school ranked one out of ten Provincially, ill last summer's Fraser Institute report, which ranks all Ontario elementary scores using the EQAO test results. Board wide, Kawartha Pine Ridge (KPR) students have made progress in every subject subject area in the latest round of Provincial testing. For the 2005-06 results, KPR remains near the Provincial average in all testing areas. In Orono, grade three reading reading scores increased from 32 percent to 76 percent last year, above the Board average of 63 percent and the Provincial average of 62 per cent. Grade three writing was also at 76 percent, which is higher than the Board and the Provincial average. Grade three math results were up 24 percent from the previous year, and were just below the Board and Provincial averages.
