Wednesday, September 27, 2006 Ofono Weekly Times - 3 I-WM» i-Tj.JUCT» Places I've done time ■f ' . S ■]$§*: ■ f x .Jm ■JVflmfpaMW ,§i MEi Fun fun fun I went to the fair and spent a considerable amount of time there and had a wonderful time. Every year should be election election year. It sure brings out all the local politicians. They participate in everything and buy lots of stuff. I saw them at the cake and pie auction and cakes were selling well. It was wonderful to see them buying. Lots of times there would only be the auctioneer and one politician bidding < against himself. It was good for the fundraisers. Anyhow, thére was a whole new wave of hopeful politicians at the fair soliciting votes this time. I wish I had their gift of F 5 : 1 xJhini huiwetsazif John & Eleanor Shetler September 29, 2006 h. Love and best wishes, Maureen & Randy Diane, Bill, Ethan & Scott the gab and their nice way of phrasing things. They claim that .things can be done better, better, safer, quicker and cheaper. cheaper. How can we go wrong? There is a rumour that the good ship Clarington is going down with Captain John. None of the deck hands have jumped ship. That is a good sign. Rats usually leave the ship at the first sign of trouble. No rats on board -- that's good, but then I wouldn't know anything anything about that. Saturday was the chili cook-off in the village. Lots of "cookers", including the politicians. A pie baking contest contest as well. The pie auction went well with John Witheridge doing the auctioneering. auctioneering. With a .bit .of coaching and a little grooming, grooming, I think he could give Mr. C.A. Reid a run for his money. Someone said that there were about 30 pies in the bak-' ing contest. The first place apple was baked by Jane Anne Tillson. Donna Morrison had the prize-winning pumpkin pie. No wonder their husband's husband's always look hill and happy. ' Lots of people turned out for this event and most all the politicians sampled everyone's everyone's chili. The verdict was always the same--wonderful. At the end of the day, after the contest, every politician was either full of wind or gas. To all ÿou politicians, please keep pleading and promising. It sure is fun. And secondly I hope Gasser is not so. self-righteous as to insinuate that only those without support from the development industry are the only ones that would work towards a proper balance between between greenbelt and places for families to live, work and play. I support the need for greenbelts, residential, recreational recreational and industrial space but unfortunately, when it comes to a choice between residences and trees the tree usually loses. The residential tide gradually washes northwards northwards and if by some .miracle it skips over this greenbelt it will go through a greenbelt somewhere else until it gets to the tree line. If Linda Gasser can convince more Canadians to live in apartments she may be able to stem the tide for a few more generations. Tony Wood, Orono Are you in an abusive relationship?
