Darlington Nuclear Ontario Power Generation has applied to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for a Site Preparation Licence for new nuclear reactors at the Darlington Nuclear site. This is the first step in a regulatory process that could eventually lead to new nuclear units at the Darlington Nuclear site. A Site Preparation Licence is the first of a number of licences that are required in the federal approvals process for new nuclear generation. A Site Preparation Licence will only be granted if the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) finds the site suitable for a new nuclear station. The CNSC will also determine the environmental environmental assessment requirements. We will keep you informed and ask for your views at key stages of the regulatory process. Watch for community information sessions and open houses later this fall. We have established a project web site at www.opg.com/newbuild.
