Wednesday, October 11,2006 Orono Weekly Times • 3 Movie Reviews by Shawn McCartney I do love to see Canadians on the big screen! To see Canadians filling up the movie theatre!! That is so wonderful to me. I went to see The Trailer Park Boys: The Movie and must say they were original, consistent and it was Canadian humor. We don't have cable so can't watch the TV show, although I have seen it once or twice. I am from the east coast and this is true "down home" humor. Not for everyone--the language language is rough and the topics are rougher. It is directed by Mike Clattenburg. It stars Mike Smith, Robb Wells, and Jean Paul Tremblay. It is rated 14A, and has a great sound track. Most of all, I loved sitting in the theatre reading the credits credits and seeing my nephew's name there. I'm so proud of you Preston! I give this movie a 4 out of 5. ' . I also went to see Departed, the mafia/cop drama that .has a star-filled cast. It is directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, and Martin Sheen. I love Nicholson, he plays such a wonderful 'crazy'. The. movie is over three hours long and it does keep you on the edge of your seat. But I found ■ it was like so many other cop movies. It had no new ideas. The acting was brilliant though. To see such seasoned actors work together. With Mr. Scorsese, who is known as the actor's director, it was like watching a dance-- smooth and pleasant to watch. I smell Academy Awards. I give this film a 4 out of 5. Some movies to see on video are: Big Fish, Prime, Trailer Park Boys (all the seasons), seasons), Fried Green Tomatoes, and Bull Durham... Representing Port Perry Hospital, Dr. B Cohoon asked for a Regional commitment of $50,000 annually for a total investment of $250,000, on their project redevelopment, costed at $4 million. The redevelopment project at Port Perry Hospital includes reconstruction and expansion of their emergency space and a new endoscopy suite. That commitment has been fully paid. In 2003 Regional councillors councillors approved a request from the Rouge Valley Hospital Association for a $3.5 million contribution to the Ajax- /Pickering hospital. No payments payments have yet been made on that commitment, as construction construction has not begun. While the Ministry of Health has a financial, responsibility responsibility to the building of new hospitals, they take no financial financial responsibility for hospital redevelopment. As the Board of the Bowmanville Hospital feel the redevelopment of their hospital facility is needled needled now, the Hospital Foundation have taken it upon themselves to raise the entire amount through fundraising. "Our community has been very supportive of health care in the community," said Ms. Darlene Bastiannelli, Memorial Memorial Hospital Foundation Executive Director, in a phone interview with the Times on Tuesday morning. "They have always responded to the hospital's hospital's needs in a positivé way, and they are responding to these needs now again." OLIVIA MEGGET granddaughter of Don & Eileen Stephens.
