' Oshawa MPP Calls for Election of Regional Chair Last week, Oshawa MPP Jerry Ouellette introduced a Private Member's Bill that would require future Chairs of the Durham Region to be elected by a general vote. In my view, his Bill reflects the preference of the majority majority of citizens in Durham Region and I commend Jerry for re-introducing this legislation. Electing the Regional Chair was the subject of a referendum referendum on the Oshawa ballot ballot during last month's municipal election. In the November 13 election, election, 86.3 per cent of Oshawa voters preferred an elected regional chair. I welcome your further comments on Mr. Ouellette's Ouellette's Private Member's Bill, or any other matters before the House.
