Brian Malcolm, general manager manager of Parkwood estate made a very interesting presentation about Parkwood, Oshawa, formerly the home of Sam McLaughlin, founder of General Motors. Parkwood is one of the finest examples of grand mansions and gardens left in Canada and is a designated designated National Historic Site. Brian described the making of the gardens which in their heyday were tended by a staff of twenty four. With help from Parks Canada the architecture, architecture, statuary and planting are being restored to their former former glory. These beautiful gardens are well worth visiting. visiting.
