Minor Tykes "B" finalists On March 10th, Easton Truck Caps Major Tykes played a tournament in Newcastle and came away "B" finalists. The team met teams from Barrie and Haliburton. Brock Dunham was between the pipes, and had a shut out in the first period. In the second period, the Manvers Mustangs scored their first goal short-handed. Orono quickly answered back with Josh McGill scoring the first goal, assisted by Jeremy Caruana. Tyler Johansen scored the second goal, assisted by Jevon Staples, to take the lead 2-1 at the end of the second second period. Early in the third period, Tommy Meester blasted one in from the blue line. Tyler Armstrong potted one in assisted assisted by Matt Dobson. Then it was Dobson's turn to score, assisted by Tyler Armstrong and Tyler Johansen. Chad Moore, Nick Kuijpers and Garrett Klompmaker were very aggressive in the offence. The strong defense team consisted of Tommy Meester, Jevon Staples, Jeff Mulder and Lucas Martin. The defensive squad of Ryan Wood, Matt Mercer, Harley McColl and Brian Knapp had to be at their best on every shift to keep Bowmanville aty bay. A late second period goal by Andrew McClatchey helped Orono to a 5-1 decision. This win gave Orono 3 wins out of 5 and now they will move on to a best two out of three final. Good Luck team.
