7 From Around Home by Roy Forrester Having reached 80 years of age last Januaiy 1st and upon receiving an excellent bill of health on Tuesday of this week--I cannot be anything other than upbeat. Eighty and onward from here on in. It all started with tests showing that my heart beat was somewhat irregular and there was some concern. This concern placed me in the hands of an Internal Medicine doctor who also noted the irregular heart beat but as well noted that under a movement activity the heart beat became most normal. This was noted to be the case when I was introduced to the tread mill portion of the test. I did have a good brisk hike on the machine and going up hill to bout. It has been determined that there is no need for concern with the irregular heart beat. It was also noted that a small portion of the heart is not operating as well as it should. We do have a wonderful health system program in this Country. It is owned by the Canadians to look after Canadians and that is the way it should stay. It should not be a "for profit profit system" as is being promoted promoted all too often. Such a system would only lead to greed and greed has no feeling for the rights of the masses. When I talk of greed, it brings to mind the computer deal in Toronto and as well in Toronto the dealings for the new Union Station complex. the correct answer turned out to be sloths - not something you see everyday! Tip six -1 have become the envy of my friends by using an erasable ink pen for puzzles. You get to try out answers and don't have that messy writing over the letters letters look when finished. I think neatness counts - probably probably another age thing. One final tip - weekend puzzles tend to have quotes or running themes throughout them. Topics range from movies with animals in them - to books out of print with numbers numbers in the title - to quotes that usually are forgettable. Sometimes the theme helps in solving them especially if you know lots of mundane trivia. This past Sunday's Star puzzle had seven phrases describing the clue "elated".
