VIP continued on page 4 Police officer charged An off-duty Durham Regional Police Officer has been charged with impaired driving after an investigation investigation into a single motor vehicle collision on King Street East in the Village of Newcastle. On Saturday July 19th, 2003 at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers were dispatched dispatched to the scene of the accident in Newcastle. The allegation is that an off- duty police officer was involved in a single car collision collision when the vehicle he was driving struck a utility pole on the north side of King Street East.
