"I feel the experience of the last six years has given me the insight to know how the Municipality and Region work; and I want to be part; of it:":; ■ "We are looking at developing a medical centre centre for Orono and area, we're looking at our road system and a GO bus to Newtonville," he said. "The recreation wave that started in Courtice will come to Newcastle," Trim stated. While the wave will stop in Bowmanville first, the Municipality is in the process of purchasing land on Rudell Road in Newcastle for a future recreation facility consisting consisting of soccer fields, ball diamonds and a twin pad arena. During his stint on council, council, Wotten says he was responsible for bringing in municipal wide garbage collection and getting the Eniskillen Fire hall built. So far the only other contest in the 2003 Municipal election is Mayor John Mutton's seat, which is being challenged by Kirby resident Richard Ward. All current councillors councillors are seeking re-election for the seats they now hold. Nomination papers can be filed with the Municipal Clerk's Department till 5 : p.m. on September 26. She felt the money would be better spent fixing up the south entrance, by the CIBC. The Rutherford Trail was developed in the ravine along Orono Creek just west of Main Street Orono, beginning beginning in 1994. In 2000 a 'Friends of the Sydney B | Rutherford Trail' group was formed, who. undertook a major clean up of the trail that fall. This group, led by Pat Lycett, was instrumental in getting the design for the north entrance parkette drawn Sections of the Rutherford Rutherford Trail have become overgrown due to lack of on g oin g mai n t e - nance. up before they disbanded the following summer. According to Windolf, work had not commenced on the project at that time because the municipality was attempting to purchase additional additional property, a strip along the creek, from the owner of the adjacent property to the north. A settlement could not be reached, therefore the municipality is prepared at this time to proceed with the original plan. "We've designed the parkette parkette to be as low maintenance as possible," stated Windolf in a phone conversation with the Orono Weekly Times on Monday. Windolf felt, he did receive' some commitment from the Orono Horticultural Club for assistance in maintaining maintaining the gardens.
