With assistance from the Durham Land Stewardship Trust the Whorpole's replaced the original crossing which impeded water flow and fish, with a 45 foot tractor trailer flat bed which Mr. Whorpole, an engineer by trade, constructed a deck for and resurfaced. The new 'stream friendly' creek crossing will be used to move farming equipment across the waterway, and will keep their 22 cows from entering entering the creek. The Whorpoles were reimbursed reimbursed for the $5,000 material costs for the bridge from the Stream Stewards Project. The Stream Stewards Project is an initiative of the Ontario Wildlife Foundation and its partners which include various land and water stewardship stewardship councils, conservation authorities, Sir Sanford Fleming College, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and the Otonabee Conservation Foundation.
