Scoring our goal was Brittany St. James with an assist from Cavan Willsie. Justin Patterson worked hard in net making over 25 exciting saves. Jessica Moore, Connor MacVarish, Kohl Smith, Nicholas Spires, Storm Wolla, Nick Rosamond and Ryan Burden put in a great effort on our front lines. Early season shut-out for Cafe Atoms Orono Cafe Atoms turned in another great effort this past Friday at Orono Community Centre with another 2-0 victory victory over Fenelon Falls Falcons. Backed up by the fine goaltending goaltending of Ryan Brandt and with goals by William Kirby and Evan Rosseau, the Leafs earned their second shut-out of the season. Orono quickly rallied with a clean delivery, from behind the goal, off Heather Maitland's stick into the scoring scoring zone. Andrew Fudge, perfectly perfectly positioned in front of the net, tipped in his second goal of the night. Ryan's Realty wasn't ready to go down without a battle. Fast skating #10 caught the defensive team of Josh Flynn and Colin Maitland off balance balance in a breakaway and slid another goal past Winters. Orono's player Mark Spiers slammed the final unassisted and short handed goal past the Bowmanville goalie bringing the final score to 4 - 2 Orono. Brothers Joe and Brien Konopka teamed up to play solid defence, side by side, for the first time in their hockey histoiy. Offensive team members members Doug Deboo, Mike Puddicombe, Steve Rozario, Garrett MacDonald and Matt Bester were instrumental in wearing the Bowmanville team down with consistent fast skating aggressive play.
