From Around Home by Roy Forrester Healthy outing With the computer on the blimp my weekly report will be somewhat shortened. I've had two phone calls during the past week, both relating to the historic Swamp Road Oak Ridges Hiking Trail west from Leskard Road to Mosport Road. This section of trail has received it's final touch up and is well signed. Actually it travels travels as far westerly to the boundry road between Clarke and Darlington Townships. You can hike a little in and back out on a lot. The two callers over the past week were most appreciative appreciative that the trail exists and to be given the excellent opportunity opportunity to be in an interesting outdoor outdoor setting. One mentioned others being on the trail along with a group of some 25 hikers. It so happens that the group walking were from St. Paul's United Church of Bowmanville. The group was led by Rick Patterson of Bowmanville and this outing takes place once a month. It has been going on for a number number of years. This provides me with an opportunity to ask if there are other such groups that might like to periodically undertake a similar outing? Hiking is a healthy outing and with a group such as St. Paul's, is not too demanding of time nor energy. It could even be used for a family reunion etc... Time- wise it can be anywhere from an hour to two hour. It's your choice as to the date and time. We supply the leaders. If interested call either: Rick Patterson at (905) 623- 2184 or Roy Forrester (905) 983-5147. We could also include a cross country ski outing. It's all for fun and at no cost! yt Çreat Çift Idea Clarington Community Care presents a limited edition "Historic Clarington" Keepsake Coverlet This is your opportunity to purchase a keepsake coverlet depicting historical sites of Clarington including the Bowmanville Museum, Bowmanville Town Hall, Central Public School, Ebenezer United Church, Newcastle Community Hall, Orono town Hall, St. George's Anglican Church, Tyrone Mills as well as the Clarington Municipal crest.
