The first fifteen minutes were scoreless until Matt Puddicombe put one in off a pass from Daniel Stavrakos. Minutes later, Matt scored again. Newcastle answered with goals of their own to give them a 4- 2 advantage over Orono. Then, on an amazing passing play started by Orono's Brian Dillon to Matt Puddicombe, Adam Duke was able to beat Newcastle's goalie on the stick side. As the third period wound down,, Neal Aziz, on a feed from Kevin Schoemaker, blasted a shot from the blue line and into the* net. Newcastle answered with another quick goal to put them in the lead again. Although Newcastle would try valiantly, Orono goalie Patrick Remple allowed no more. Orono was short-handed and down by one goal. On a lead pass by Alex ShkuratotT out of Orono's end to Tyler Johansen, Tyler turned the goalie inside out with a series of moves ending with the puck in their net. The game was tied once again.
