A handsome trophy offered by the Exmoor Country Club, open to ama- teurs of all recognized golf clubs, will be contested {or tomorrow (Sat- urday) by all the experts of the west and many prominent eastern players who have so conspicuously distin- guished themselves in the recent tournaments at Wheaton and Lake Forest. As the entries do not close. until this evening a detailed list of competitors cannot be given. Lake Forest, no doubt, will be strongly represented by H. J. Whigham (amateur champion of 189“. and who succeeded in retaining the coveted hono‘r this year), D. R. Forg‘an, Walter Smith and Sol Smith, all of whom have shown exceptionally fine form this year. Among the players likely to compete from the Chicago Golf club such names as C. B. Mc- Donald, Willets Frost and Hunt are sure to be heard from. The River» side and Washington Park clubs are also expected to be represented. ()f the local players. whose chances of winning are of the brightest are De» Koven Towner. Lawrence TWeedie, H. Moore, W. A. Alexander and M. Cassard. Since they are playing over their own home green and are perfectly familiar with the ground. they will certainly be well up among the first men.
