During this week a Chicago orchestra of twelve piecea‘ has fur- nished excellent music. They have not quite as big a reputation as the Milwaukee handy, but when it comes to music Chicago players don’t take a back seat. “We enjoyed their mu. sic much. The great attraction of the week has .been Mlle. Carmen- cella in her drapery representations. \\'e saw them last night for the first time and saw not an objectionable feature about them. She has a van- ity of robes, most of them elegant silks‘ said to-be 50 to 75 yards in each which she throws on over her ordinary dress, and then under pow- vrful side lights, and one shining through the floor, puts those im- mense robes through a rapid series of evolutions or revolutions, or both singly and combined, till the effect is wonderful. During the last scene she is pure white. a vanity of views, f on) a magic lantern are thrown on her, and the Kaleidoscopic effect is dazzling} beyond our descriptive powers. \Ve do not wonder that vhildren of all ages and sizes, are en- tranced. The war scenes which f0l~ lowed were very fine, and evoked unbounded enthusiasm. Next week Saturday. the 20th. the New Pavilion will he opened uletlirnted. 'with roof all on.
