"The men who started this have never set foot in the county hospital, It has been a campaign of malice and jealousy and a blot on the. medical profession. None of the statements presented to the civic societies with such conviction has any foundation in fact. They are mere scandalous ruâ€" mors founded in rancor, "On a comparative basis, the Lake County hospital is administered at a cost that compares very favorably with institutions ten times its size. The average cost per hospital day for the past year is $3.55 against $3.50 for Cook County hospital." The County hospital, Obee said, opâ€" erates for about $80,000 a year with an average of seventyâ€"seven patients tréated daily. ‘This includes contagâ€" jous, tuberculous, emergency and genâ€" eral patients. 3 s1ci@n Obee said ‘The county physician is a pracâ€" titioner of the highest skill and efâ€" ficiency.
