Fortified by an overdose of pro-- hibition' liquor or hard cider, Owen Claubaugh of Gurnee drove the Pon-- tiac roadster belonging to his broth-- er all the way from the town of Wil-- son to : Roundout on the railroad tracks and beat the train to the crossing. Good music and a 'hristian welcome to all. | Young peovle's meeting at 6:30 in he evening. u, %p According to reports from Gurnee, Owen got himself all teed up and was out in his breother's car. Like the man who turned the corner be-- fore he got to it, Owen turned south off Belvidere road at Wilson on the raflroad tracks. Fortunately he was on the right track and thus averted a head on crash with a freight train, but a freight train sneaked upon him from the rear and chased him all the way to Roundout. Fortunately again, the engineer saw the auto ahead and slowed down enough to juét barely nose him off the tracks and onto to Rockland road where Joe Dada, who was out scouting for the car, dismounted from the brake rods of the following freight and replaced Owen at the wheel for the ride back to McClure's garage. -- Haled before Justice of the Peace George M.
