At the same time Rodriguez made a statement to the police that the owner of the machine was the man who had robbed the Tibertyville tailorshop and then sold the cloth-- ing to him. REPORTS FIVE NEW CASES _ OF SCARLET FEVER Only One of These Cases Was from Waukegan; 187 New Cases in State. THREE CASES SMALLPOX Lake County reported five ef the 187 new cases of Scarlet fever in the siate reported to the state Jepart-- ment of public heaito at Springfield during the last week, according to dispatches received today. One of these five cases was in Waukegan. Lake County also reported three of the forty--two new cases of amalipoxr reported from the entire state last week. Tho numbver of cases reported from Lake County is considerably smaller tx usual and would ternd to indi-- c that the situation is clearing up. Health departments in Waukegan and elsewhere through the county are doing their best to eradicate all con-- tagious diseases and their efforts ap-- pear to be--having a marked effect. _The following dispatch from Spring-- field shows the condition of contagi-- ous diseases throughout the state;: Scarlet fever is claiming -- an» in-- creasing number of victims in Hli-- nois each week judging from reports of the state department of public of the state department of public health.
