it Libertyville Indepenident Lake County Independent -- Waukego» eshly Sun " _ Women 'voters should not be deluded 'by the propa-- ganda used in the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Daily News relative to the status of wogmen in Chicago on the Governor situation. For example a few days ago those two papers used a long article in which they made capital over the fact that the '"Chicago Women Roosevelt Or-- ganization" had repudiated Governor Small and endorsed the democratic nominee, Jones. The fact of the matter is that there were only about 150 women present at that meeting, that the plans of action had all been outlined in advance, that the whole association is a cut--and--dried affair, with one object in mind, namely of opposing Governor Small. _ 7c This "Women's Roosevelt Organization" is said to be the one of which Mrs. Medill McCormick wife of the defeated candidate for senator, is the '"'mother." Mrs. McCormick, while a member of the National Republican Committee has carried on opposition to Governor Small, probably under orders from her husband who has been a bitter opponent of the' Governor. Therefore, the en-- dorsement of Jones by Mrs. McCormick's hand--picked Roosevelt Association means nothing, for, recollect that a few nights before the Roosevelt Women's meeting in Chicago at which Mrs. MceCormick got through her en-- dorsement of Jones, there was held a meeting of women at the Coliseum, at which there were over 4000 women present! These women all were strong for Governor Small's re--election. There was a case of sentiment from 4,000 women erndorsing the governor as against a handful of 150 in Mrs. McCormick's "Roosevelt" Organ-- ization. Furthermore, Friday night in Chicago over 2,000 persons one--third of them women gathered at Lincoln Turner iall, Chicago and heard Governor Small declare that he would keep up his fight for 5¢ street car fare in Chicago and complete his good road program down state. Judging by what one hears all over the state the women of THinois have organized even more thoroughly in behalf of the Governor than the women opposed to him, despite the propaganda of such forces as the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Daily News backed by Medill MceCor-- mick, and others. The Tribune and News may be able to fool gsome of the women part of the time but it can't fool most of them in election time--they are thinking and thinking hard these 'days. _ THE STATUS OF WOMEN IN THE CaXPAIGN [UNIVERSALa £A% The Universal gas Range will meet the requirements of the housewife who appreciates convenience, cleanlinchh and economy.
