' After the passage of the income tax law in 1918, the heirs sought to avoid paying income tax on the ag-- gregate amount of the income,opre-- ferring to pay on the individual shares. Under the latter plan the to:al tax paid would have been much less than under the former. ' One of the most remarkable wills ever recorded at the local Probate court is that of Visscher V. Barnes, lute judge of Zion City and one of the pillars of the Independent fac-- tion.. The judge's devotion to his wife and family and his--deep reli-- gious feeling are expressed in beau-- tiful style in the document, .# ; 'I'S..wmwuulmittdfinnobd The will was admitted to :,' sds . ; record.: The lif@estaite In'all of the'} . ©-- " aeil -- property was given to Mrs. Anna - a $ * 6 Barnes, the widow, and ab her deatinl M -- . s e is to go to the children, £ Sn . on x f Leaves $5,000,000 Estate. Mrs. Lehmann's estate, consisting principally of stock in The Fair, amounted to $5,324,835, according to the probate figures announced fol-- lowing her death from an elevator accident in 1918. Under her will this estate was converted into a trust fund, the income from which was to go to the six children. Last March Mrs. Mabel G. Rein-- ecke, collector of internal reyenue, was restrained by District-- Judge George A. Carpenter from collecting income tax from the trustees of a trust fund Mrs. Lehmann had es-- tablished for the heirs. The Court of Appeals reverses this ruling. mens at reasonable prices.. The Anderson company, planners from which laid out the city of Lake For-- est, has been secured for this work Emphasis will be laid on beauty as well as utility in the tracts. The plans for development of the former Hathaway estate are just being worked out, mccording to Mc-- Clanahan, who is the leading spirit in the venture. _ The entire m will be subdivided into large ' tracts for exclusive and restricted residential _ districts. _ Individual tracts 'will have a lake frontage which will border on the half--mile or more of shore property. . Every detail will be worked out to make each estate'as individual and dis-- tintinetive as possible. B. G. McClanahan and Miss Cora Roberts, of Wilmette and Chicago, are the principals in the negotiations and the deal just closed gives them the sixty--acre Hathhway estate which adjoins Allendale on the north and the Edith Rockefeller McCor-- mick property, Shoreland, on the south in the Wisconsin city. The property includes all the territory south of Selma avenue, east of Ex-- change street and north of the Mc-- Cormick property there. Half of the property is at the present time a part of the city of Kenosha and ap-- plication is to be made on the first of the year for incorporation of the rest of the property into the city oti Kenosha. | Plans are underway to develop lt "gold coast" colony in Kenosha, i was made known today following the completion of a deal by the Dowse brothers real estate office of that city, The planners who laid out <the city of Lake Forest will have a hand in the development.
