- Unlike the officer's sabre which was more for decorative purposes, this type of Sabre was meant for combat. This particular weapon was marked “Cobourg 30” which means that it was created for the 30th man in the 3rd Provisional Regiment of Calvary in Cobourg, established in response to the threat of the Fenian Raids.
