Description
2 washboards. One extra small and one small. The extra small washboard is made of wood and metal with the inscription “Ideal. Manufactured by Canadian Woodenware Co. Winnipeg. St. Thomas. Montreal”. The small one appears to be hand made from plywood and glass and has Port Hope written on the back.
Inscriptions
Used in laundry; clothing was consistently dunked into soapy water and ribbed against wash boards to clean them. Metal washboards tend to be older than glass washboards.
