Architects_Panels BRUCE MACNEILL 1990s - PRESENT ARCHITECTS AND THEIR PATRONS Local architect Bruce MacNeill's stamp can be seen on much of Cobourg's recent development. His work includes private residences, many of which are infill projects, as well as condominium developments in the downtown. One of his early projects was as Clerk of Works for the new Cobourg Public Library, designed by Gordon Robinson for Moat Kinoshita, in 1995. Later commissions came from private individuals and developers. MacNeill is the architect of Ryerson Commons (for developer Mark Rollins), the townhouse development north and east of Victoria Retirement Residence. These buildings echo Cobourg's 19th century choice of building materials, bu and red brick, as well as its window shapes. MacNeill converted two cottages at 245 Henry St, circa 1858, into this single house (the west wing was added to meet his clients' needs). In 2001 Cobourg designated the building for protection under the Ontario Heritage Act. Bruce MacNeill outside his first townhouses designed in the early 1990s for James Homan, a prominent Cobourg developer.
