- This is the first year photograph (1883) of the Class of 1887, Victoria College, Cobourg.
- Notes
- The following description is by Cephas Guillet, uncle of Edwin C. Guillet. Note the two prominent educationists, Walter Libby,(second from right, bottom row) and Cephas Guillett (third from left, second row from top. Above Guillet is E.B. Ryckman and below him is J.R.L. Starr, both became prominent lawyers. The two ladies are Nuala Donley (Honours in Philosphy) and Louise Nelles, daughter of the Chancellor and wife of J.R.L. Starr. Second from Left in top row is R. Steiner, a full-blooded Native American. Standing at the left of the third row is A. B. Wilmot, father of Roy Willmott. Others include Leary, Andrews, Wilson, Steinbauer, Holland, Kerr, Brown, McKenzie, Fish, Wigle, McColl, Mulholland.

- "Freshmen entering Victoria College, Cobourg, Ont. 1883 to graduate in 1887. A number of freshman were not present to be photographed (11?) The following fell out and did not graduate with this class - Leary (killed in an accident)Mulholland (died of tuberculosis)but was allowed a (?) as he nearly finished. Balmer, Miss Nelles, Wallwin, Wigle, McColl. Several joined the class later and graduated with it: Sproule, Waddell, Webb, Miss Shernick, Kennedy, McDoanld, Massey, Stonehouse
