- Major Hobbs was originally from England and a member of the 33rd Regiment. His father and grandfather surveyed the borders of the Himalayas, India, Pakistan, Tibet and Nepal. He lived at 100 James Street, then on the north corner of Sinclair and Harnden Cres.
