- This house was built in 1841 by Dr. James Gilchrist specifically for use as both his office and residence. His brother, John, also a doctor, was the first medical doctor licensed by the Upper Canada Medical Board. One can still see vestiges of early style about the doorway, despite alterations. It later became a beauty salon and then a dentist's office.
