- Mount Fortune, a splendid Greek revival home was built about 1840, possibly by Peter McGill. At one time it served as officers’ mess for the Cobourg Militia during the Fenian Raids of 1866. Later it was the residence of James B. Fortune, sheriff and local politician of Cobourg in the 1860s.
