My dear, our dear Gussy:
To express our feelings at the receipt of a telegram from John Cartwright today that Senator Boulton died yesterday, communicated to me by our Rector is impossible. To feel that our dearly beloved son was no more so recently parted from us on the first of May on leaving Ottawa…. Our thoughts and hearts are as he would hope transformed to you my dearest Gussy and your children, our grandchildren. He bequeathed to you an honored name beyond other that he labored for in pursuing the duties of a statesman… I believe to have been a wise course… Grandmamma, Aunty, Zaida unite in love and affection to you and all.
