Mr. Separate School gets a Papal Medal

“Mr. Separate School” they called him, and the title was well earned.

So well earned that Michael James Redmond has been awarded a Papal Medal of Merit, blessed by His Holiness Pope John Paul II, in recognition of years of service to the local separate school board and the Ontario Separate School Trustees Council.

With the medal goes the title Benemeranti, which means “Well earned for contributing to Christianity.”

Sunday, April 22, after the 9:30 Mass, Rev. Father B. Burke, Pastor of St. Michael’s formally thanked Mr. Redmond for his years of dedicated service to the Parish.

The Papal Medal and Scroll were presented to Mr. Redmond by Sister Anna Gertrude, Parish Council President. Mrs. Redmond was presented with a corsage by Miss Jane Penney, Parish Council Social Convener.
