Of the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham

BE It Known that on the Seventeenth, day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty, letters of Administration of all and singular the property of Orra Austin Brown,
Late of the Township of Haldimand, In the County of Northumberland, Farmer, Deceased, who died on or about the sixth, day of March, In the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty, at The township of Haldimand in the county of Northumberland, Intestate, and had at the time of his death a fixed place of abode at the Township of Haldiman, in the said County of Northumberland, were granted by His Majesty’s Surrogate Court of the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham, to Ethel Isabella Brown, of the Township of Haldimand in the County of Northumberland, the lawful Widow.

Of the said intestate She having been first sworn faithfully to administer the same by paying his just debts and distributing the residue (if any) of his property according to law, and to exhibit under oath a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said property and to render a just and true account of her administration whenever thereunto lawfully required.

This grant is made upon the condition that no portion of the assets shall be distributed or paid during the war to any beneficiary or creditor who is a German, Austro-Hungarian, Turkish or Bulgarian subject or other alien enemy wherever, resident, or to any one on his behalf, or to or on behalf of any person resident in Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey or Bulgaria, or other enemy country of whatever nationality, without the express sanction of the Crown acting through the Treasury, and if any distribution or payment is made contrary to this condition the grant of Probate or Letters of Administration will be forthwith revoked.

Witness His Honour Henry Alfred Ward, Judge of the said Surrogate Court at the Town of Cobourg, in the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham the day and year first above written.
