Library Budget Was Reduced In Year 1967

Treasurer, T.P. Cushing informed the Library Board, Tuesday, that disbursements were $17,979.60, and balance $12,802.20. The September financial statement was adopted.

Budget from Province last year was $8,413, this year cut to $6,437; which made reduced receipts, $28,805.80. In September financial report, Library-equipment, insurance and art gallery program were overspent.

The sum $2,000 did not seem realistic for fees, fines and miscellaneous,' said G. Barnett. It takes three months to make this up and it is unwise to overbudget. Sometimes the Provincial Library Grant has a surplus. This surplus is allocated to deserving libraries and the Cobourg Library may get a little more.

An increase in fees for a family ticket was to commence in 1968. The increase, it was decided would apply to non-resident subscribers.
