THE COBOURG DAILY STAR – Thursday, March 28, 2002 – 5
What's got 18 legs and catches flies? A baseball team.
If I kiss a frog will I get a prince?
No, but you might get very sick from salmonella. Even if you just hold hands, there's a chance you could pick up the bacteria. So, a frog (or toad or newt or iguana) must never be kissed! Alas, you must find your prince elsewhere. (Taken from Just Curious Jeeves.)

The local newspaper is interesting today – but it could be critical tomorrow. One library user recently used the back issues of the Cobourg Daily Star to discover the weather conditions on a certain day last year (very stormy) in order to support his case involving a traffic accident. The Library has copies of the Cobourg Star on microfilm dating back to 1831.
A library patron requested a copy of the June issue of National Geographic, 1985 to trace the April 2002 article entitled "Found After 17 Years: An Afghan Refugee's Story. Our print holdings date back to 1980. National Geographic can be found on the Internet at www.national geographic.com. In their Archives there are story highlights dating back the past six years.
Did you know that if your house is 100 years or older you may find it in the Inventory of Cobourg's Century Buildings in 8 Volumes. The entries are arranged alphabetically by street name and include a brief architectural description. This set was prepared by the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (LACAC).
Last, but not least, we received a copy of local author Alwine Franke's work entitled Not Alone. She recounts her experiences as a lone young British woman caught in Germany as the Second World War unfolded, and trapped there for the duration.
