- Description
- Visitor comment submitted (September 2020): "I do not know that name of the carriage shop nor do I know the date of the photograph. But I am intrigued by the name "Arnold Warren."
My great grandfather, Joseph Warren, was born in Colborne where he built horse-drawn carriages. At some point he moved to Marmora, Ontario where he continued to make carriages. When Marmora was incorporated as a vilage in 1901, he became reeve.
I wonder if there is a connection between my great grandfather and the carriage shop in Colborne." - Notes
- This print was found in a photo album entitled Colborne 125th Anniversary Committee. Written on inside front cover of this: Reproductions of glass negatives and positives of Colborne, Ontario's past - early 1900's - belonging to Arnold Warren and the Wm. C. Griffis family. Developed by Wm. Bennett (cousin of Joan & Harold Harnden under the auspices of the 125th Anniversary Committee celebrating Colborne's 125th Birthday 1859-1984). A small tag under the photo reads: Buggy Factory
Handwritten on the back of the photograph: "Buggy Factory"
The photo album was unstable and the prints were removed and are now located in a print storage box.
