The Illustrated Historical Atlas of Northumberland and Durham Counties featured maps of Northumberland and Durhams counties, Cramahe Township, Colborne, and Castleton. The village maps showed the layout of the villages with the street names, lot numbers, and road allowances. Geographical information was limited to the depiction of waterways such as rivers and ponds. These modest maps as well as the highly detailed illustrations of homes, farms, and businesses provided readers with a sense of the community and its prospects.
