The census records can be searched from the original (first) record page. A successful search on a surname will bring you to the first page where the surname is located. The surnames in the censuses are not organized alphabetically on the census pages, but likely reflect the enumerator’s progress from residence to residence. If the name appears more than once in the census then the different page numbers will appear in the upper left hand side of the page in 'blue lettering' and you can click on the specific page number to navigate to the other page(s). The same surname may appear more than once on a page. To continue a search for another name, you need to return to the original (first) page. To arrive at the first page click on the word “Details” in 'purple lettering' at the top of the page, above the Census Title and this will navigate you back to the original First record page for this document. You will be notified of unsuccessful search results in ‘red lettering’ in the upper left hand corner with this message: - Your search for "xxxxxx" within this title found no results

When searching for Cramahe information in older documents please keep in mind that Ontario may have been referred to as Canada West or Upper Canada.

Please note that one researcher has commented that on page 12 "under "COWEY" the date for John should be 1891 and for Archie should be 1892. This can be confirmed in the CemSearch database."
