Beatrice Belinda Allen (nee Hennessey) from Hilton, Ontario. She married Durwood Allen of Castleton, Ontario in Sept. 5, 1911. The ladies either side of her appear to be looking at her finger, perhaps a new ring??? Most likely taken in July/August of that year.
My grandmother, Beatrice B. Allen wrote out the names on the back of the photo and my mother, Ruth C. Bellamy (nee Allen) confirmed them in the mid 1970's.
An additional comment by the owner:
My suggestion, a Women's Institute gathering. The date is 1911 on the back of the photo. WI began in 1897 and by 1919 it became Federated Women's Institute of Ontario with a much broader reach. I know my grandmother Beatrice Allen was a member.
Picture taken outside a home, (I'm guessing in the rural area of Shiloh, Ontario), perhaps where they congregated."
Comment forwarded online (December 2017):
"I think this picture could have been taken in Morganston as a large number of the ladies names are familiar to me. I think this could possibly be a U.C.W. meeting."
