Early 20th century Prize Lists published by small agricultural societies, such as this 1910 Cramahe one, rarely survive their short-lived use. Prize Lists detailed the types of classes open to participants and the monies to be won for first, second, and third place showings. Local citizens competed in a diverse range of competitive classes within larger categories focussing upon Animal Breeds, Crops, Fine Arts and the Ladies' Department. These Prize Lists provide a distinctive glimpse into the agricultural, cultural, and business sensibilities of the time.
