It has occurred to us that we forgot to mention one who greatly helped to make it the success it was. We refer to Comrade Arthur Turpin. Without his public address system it would have been impossible for many in attendance to have followed the service. We trust we may, through your columns, convey to Comrade Turpin our sincere thanks and humble apologies for not having included him in our last week's artcle. We might also take this opportunity of thanking "The Express" for the publicity and space so generously donated to this and other activities of the Legion over a period of many years. Mrs. John Connors and daughter, Miss Maude Connors, have been visiting in Toronto for a few days. Mrs. A. Reynolds of Toronto is spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. McKay. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lariviere of Montreal were guests last weekend of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sheldrick. Hon. T: G. Murphy has returned to Toronto after spending a few days with Mr .and Mrs. C. F. Gummer and other friends. Mrs. Clarence Peebles, who spent the past month with her daughter, Miss Irene Peebles, St. Catharines, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Gummer, Mr. W. J. Cochrane, James and Phyllis spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gummer, Kingston. Miss Clare Snetsinger, Toronto, is spending her vacation with her mother and sister, Mrs. Robert and Miss Helen Snetsinger. Messrs. Leo Bauch and Fred Armstrong were at Oshawa Saturday and attended the hockey game between Oshawa and St. Catharines. Mr. and Mrs. Victor E. Redfearn of Detroit, Mich., visited the former' father and aunt. Capt. C. E. and Miss L. M. Redfearn last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Willet Masters spent a week recently in Cannington with their daughter, Mrs. Harold Bellamy, Mr. Bellamy, Marilyn and Donna. Sneator Iva Fallis of Peterborough, a former Colborne girl, was guest speaker on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 3, at the Women's Institute Convention held in Belleville. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. McDonald were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Weatherall and their grandson Blair McDonald of Toronto. Mr. George Manning of Frankford, a former resident of Colborne, nearly lost his cottage by fire last Saturday morning, when his gasoline stove flared up. He promptly smothered the blaze before it could spread. A wall and ceiling were partially burned. It was reported in last week's Brighton Ensign that Mr. and Mrs. George Mutton of Brighton had received a letter from Ottawa informing them that their son's grave had been located. Warrant Officer Class I Gerald Mutton and his crew were shot down over Germany. Rev. and Mrs. M. W. Heslip and daughter were visitors at the Manse on Friday. Mrs. Heslip addressed the W.M.S. sectional meeting held in Old St. Andrew'^ Presbyterian Church in the afternoon and Rev. M. Heslip preached at the Preparatory Service of Old St. Andrew's in the evening. Mr. J. H»Greenley and fon Stuart, Flint., Mich., who have been visiting relatives at Campbellford and Hastings, visited Mr. J. Doherty. Lakeport, last weekend and called on Colborne friends. Mrs. H. L. Chapin, who had been visiting at their home for some time, returned to Lakeport with them. Mrs. Maude Richardson of Eastbourne, Sussex, England, sailed on Wednesday, October 27th, from New "York City on board the liner Mauri-tinia for her home. She has been here since April 12th visiting h»r husband's sister, Mrs. J. F. WolfnAn, at the Hotel Brunswick. During her stay she travelled throughout Ontario and visited in the United States.
