Best is visiting his daughter, Mrs. David Hay, and Mr. Hay or Moncton, N. B. Miss Mary Kelly of Toronto spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kelly. Mrs. Charles Bugg and daughter, Miss Jessie Bugg, visited friends at Edville on Sunday last. Mr. and Mrs. Averil Mutton and son Warren, Peterborough, visited relatives here on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. Grosjean and son, Guy, spent last weekend with Mr. Grosjean's mother, of Orland. Mr. Martin Peters spent the week end with his daughter, Mrs. Robert Douglas and Mr. Douglas, Toronto. Mr. Ralph Redfern is spending some time at his home here before leaving to keep ship at Port Weller. Mrs. Elmo McLaughlin and Mrs. Delbert McLaughlin visited Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mutton, Dundonald, this Capt. Wm. E. Redfearn arrived home last Sunday from the S. S. Outarde, which is laid up in Mon- Miss Maude Connors is in Toronto this week attending a Bell Telephoni Conference held at the King Ed ward Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Greenfield and children spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Greenfield, Landsdowne. Mr. and Mrs. G. Ramer moved this week to the house on Percy Street, recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spencer. Mrs. Ira J. Burnham is in Montreal attending the funeral of her uncle, the late W. S. Smith. Mr. Smith was in his 92nd year. Rev. A. N. Reid attended a meeting of Peterborough Presbytery on Tuesday, held in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Peterborough. Mrs. Annie Yeoman fell in her home Sunday, December 12, and broke her hip. She is resting comfortably at time of writing. Last Tuesday Misses Mildred and Sandra Turney, Mrs. Ray McLaugh* lin and daughter Karen were guests of Mrs. James Palmer, Lakeport. Mrs. A. W. Teal had the misfortune to slip and fall on her bathroom floor Wednesday morning. In the fall she received a badly fractured hip. Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald and n Gordon spent the weekend with Mrs. McDonald's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Honey, Dundonald. Miss Jean Snelgrove, R.N., of Van-iuver, is a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Matthews, and visiting other Colborne relatives and friends. :. and Mrs. Nelson Davis and family have moved into their home King Street West, which they recently purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Fred Griffls. Congratulations to Rev. and Mrs. G. Adams, Hilton, on the birth of their second daughter, Suzanne Minnie, born on Tuesday, November 30, 1948, at Belleville General Hospital. Mrs. H. Sedack has returned home after spending five weeks in Kingston General Hospital. Her many friends wish for a speedy and successful recovery after her operation. Messrs :Delbert McLaughlin and Ray McLaughlin attended the Canning Convention held in Niagara Falls last week. Delbert attended the Growers' and Processors' Convention at Hamilton. The many friends of Mr. W. W. Rose will be glad to know that he returned frpm the hospital last wees. He is making a rapid recovery after having the misfortune to break his leg. when he fell from a ladder. Having purchased the home of Mr. j Fred Harnden sometime ago, Mr. and j Mrs. B. L. Spencer and family moved j there this week, when Mr. and Mrs. Harnden moved into their new home on Church Street. | Mrs. S. Sutton fell recently on her i verandah and injured her leg. The | injuries were of such a nature that i an X-Ray was necessary. While no bones Were broken, Mrs. Sutton will j be unable to use her leg for two or j three weeks. j Mr. Gordon Munroe received ser-| ious and painful injuries on Sunday [ when his car slipped off a jack, pin-: ning him underneath. He was taken 1 to Cobourg General Hospitals, where I X-Rays were taken and he is receiv-, ing treatment. ' The members of the Past Matron's i Club of Colborne Chapter O.E.S. were entertained by Mrs. B. Smith at her i home on Church Street Wednesday evening this week. A social time was enjoyed, playing cards, followed by dainty refreshments served by the hostess.
