Cramahe Lettering & Business Signs
Early Colborne and Cramahe business owners valued professional looking signage and usually commissioned an accomplished individual with such skills. Often the signs were painted entirely by hand, but the use of stencils was also widely practised. Sign painters aimed for clarity as well as distinctiveness to catch the eye of a potential customer and communicate the specialty of the business. Crates, used to display, store and transport items, were another important form of communication and advertising.
