April 5th, 1937.--One of tjhe moulders of the present day Niagara district. Hugh Sinclair, died at his home here yesterday in his 88th year. * Many years ago Mr. Sinclair was private secretary to the late Senator William Gibson, and in that capacity was paymaster to thousands of men working in the then booming Beamsville quarry. Later he was postmaster here for 35 years, and until his retirement from active service five years ago was a familiar figure about the town. He was a Past Master of the local Masonic Ix)dge, a member of the Scottish Rite and an Oddfellow. He leaves his widow, three sons, James, William and John, and one daughter, Miss Annie, all of Beamsyille. Deceased was a son of the late John Sinclair of Colborne.
