MURPHY, Proprietor Good Business for Clerk tn commenting editorially on the jrease in raffles around Athens", The Athens Reporter has this to say about a' raffling scheme: "The ingen-scheme of a London clerk to in-3e his money by raffling is the oddest we rave heard of in some time. His employers were amazed at his high standard of living--he was earning $25 a week and spending at least """". With no private income he ran expensive car, had a luxurious flat. The staff manager was asked to call e clerk to his office, when he asked few tactful questions. "Look here," he said, "you are earning $25 a week and spending at "east $75; hofr can you do it?" 'Simple," replied the clerk with-iut the slightest emlbarrassment. "There are 300 employees in the building. I raffle my salary among them every week. Each pays 25 cents per ticket and the winner gets my salary. Sometimes I sell 250, somfries 350 tickets." Ve wonder if they fired that olerk raised his salary." Dundonald Y. P. U. The Y. P. U. of Eden Church met as usual on Tuesday evining. April 20th. 1937, with a good attendance. Opening hymn. "Fght the Good Fight" was sung, and the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. Will Thomas then took charge of the meeting. A selection by the orchestra en the topic by Mae Mutton followed. .1. Wright gave a reading and the orchestra more" music. An enjoyable contest in which all took part was text in order. The meeting was closed' by singing "Abide with Me" and the Mizpah Benediction. Pack Eggs Big End Up Eggs, especially those to be shipped for hatching, should be packed snuglv with the large end up as hatching eggs are less likely to be broken when in this posi ion than if they are packed with the small end up. Each normal egg has an air cell at 'he large end and it is necessary that the membrane separating the inner portion of the egg from the shell membrane be neither broken nor shaken loose. Research has shown thai eggs with tremulous air cells hatched only two-thirds as well as the eggs which had normal air cells. Packing the eggs with the large end up removes the pressure from the inner membrane. The egg case should never be placed on the bumper of an automobile, as the vibration at this point is possibly greater than on the floor inside the car. If the hatching eggs are hauled in a waggon or truck the bed should be ma* ted with straw, which serves as a shock absorber.
