May 15th, 1937. of an uncle, Mr. William Barrett, who passed awav at the home of his daughter, Mrs. WT." H. Oliver. Lake Shore, Colborne. The service was conducted by Rev. R. H. Rickard of Colborne and Salem United Churches. Interment took place at Waite's Cemetery. Mr. Barrett was well known and highly respected. The Y. P. U. of Eden United Church entertained Shiloh and Sharon. Societies on Tuesday evening in the hall. The Pastor was "as usual present and seventy-six bright and happy young people' were in attendance. Singing, music, readings, recitations and a short address by Rev. Armstrong on subject relating to the Coronation. The hours passed swiftly and it was rear midnight when after enjoying a bounteous lunch and hot coffee, the guests departed, lights were out and everyone went home feeling satisfied with an evening well spent. Mothers' Day was observed last Sunday in Eden United Church, which was still gay with its Coronation decorations. A fair sized congregation were in attendance and the Pastor gave a most interesting address on Mothers, especially mentioning Susannah Wesley, mother of John and Charley Wesley, the mother of Abraham Lincoln, the mother of Booker T Washington and Mrs. Haldane. mother of Lord Haldane, and cat own Queen Mother, Mary, and our new Queen. Elizabeth. Many wore flowers in honour of mother, a number of bright ones signifiying she is still with us. but many white ones, mute reminders that she has finished her earthly journey. A Coronation Dance was held in the Orange Hall, under the auspices of the L.O.L., on Wednesday evening. A good crowd was present and all reported an enjoyable time. Another dance will be held May 28th. All welcome. Neighbours and friends gathered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clare Jones on Friday evening. 7th inst.. to honour Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald with a kitchen shower. Many wishes of good luck and happiness in their married life are extended to them. A good crowd attended the Presbytery held in the town hall on Tuesday evening. Mav llth.
